Mitchell Best CEO

Mitchell Best is CEO & President of Client Services for VITAL WorkLife, a national behavioral health consulting organization serving the well being needs of organizations and employees for over 30 years. He joined the company in 2001 as Director of Business Development, was promoted to Vice President of Business Development and Account Services, then to COO before buying the company in 2013. Mitch utilizes his breadth of experience and industry expertise to provide strong business leadership for the organization and direct oversight to the client services team. He previously served in account services and business development roles for companies in the technology and services sectors.

Mitch holds a BA degree in Psychology from the University of Minnesota.

Susan Otten, ABC, SCMP, MBA | Chief Operating Officer

Susan Otten

Susan joined VITAL WorkLife in 2014 with rich experience in marketing, communications, process improvement and consulting. She has been a successful business strategy and marketing consultant, as well as held numerous leadership roles in both large (Apple and AGCO) and small companies in a variety of industries, including her own consulting practice. Susan has presented on a variety of topics, including B2B social media, is the Immediate Past President for the International Association of Business Communicators, Minnesota Chapter, leads the IABCMN Masterminds group for Healthcare Veteran Communicators and supports the University of St. Thomas entrepreneur competition, e-Fest and mentorship program.

Susan has a BS degree in human ecology from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, an MBA with a concentration in marketing and organizational development from Illinois Benedictine University – Chicago and holds certifications as an Accredited Business Communicator (ABC), Strategic Communication Management Professional (SCMP) and is GRI certified for Sustainability Reporting.

Nicole Hale | VP of Operations

VITAL WorkLife

Nicole Hale, VP of Operations, joined VITAL WorkLife in 2004 as Business Manager. Her strong contributions to the company led to her promotion to Director of Finance and then to VP of Operations. Nicole previously served in management, finance and human resources for companies in the healthcare, staffing and financial services sectors.

Nicole holds a BS degree in Finance and Accounting from St. Cloud State University.


Leonard Pesheck | Director of Marketing and Communications

Leonard joined VITAL WorkLife as the Director of Marketing and Communications in 2018. Prior to VITAL WorkLife he held increasingly responsible management roles at Pivot Strategies, Nokia and Alcatel-Lucent including Sr. Consultant, Product Marketing, Customer Marketing, Public Relations and Director of Communications. In addition to serving as a Commissioner on the Eden Prairie Parks Commission, Leonard has served as the VP of Membership for the Minnesota IABC and volunteers regularly with several community and youth organizations.

Leonard has an MBA in International Business from the American University in Washington DC and a BA in Marketing from Augsburg University in Minneapolis, MN.

Sarah Prom, MA, LPC, ODCP | Director of Service Delivery, Senior Consultant

Sarah Prom, MA, LPC, CTM; Manager, Support Solutions Team & Senior Consultant, VITAL WorkLife

Sarah leads the Service Delivery Team for VITAL WorkLife and serves as a Senior Consultant and Practice Lead for our organizational clients. She has more than 15 years of counseling, coaching and mediation experience. Sarah has trained nationally and internationally and has expertise in the areas of team development and facilitation, workplace stress and conflict management, relational issues and emotional intelligence.

Sarah received her Master of Arts in Counseling from the University of North Dakota, is a licensed Professional Counselor, a Certified Transformative Mediator, an Organization Development Certified Professional (ODCP) and serves on the leadership team at VITAL WorkLife.

Liz Ferron, MSW, LICSW | Senior Consultant

As our Physician Practice Lead, Liz Ferron manages Physician Well Being Resources services for VITAL WorkLife, as well as oversees all solutions of our healthcare clients. Liz provides training, consultation, counseling and coaching to healthcare administrators and individual practitioners in many areas, including stress management, change management and conflict resolution.

Liz is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and received her MSW degree in clinical social work from the University of Minnesota. She was also a consultant for the Earl E. Bakken Center for Spirituality & Healing at the University of Minnesota. She has served three terms as President of the Minnesota Employee Assistance Program Administrators and Counselors (MEAPAC) and is a former adjunct faculty member at the College of St. Benedict.
